For my Digital Culture Project, I chose to attend a Meetup event hosted in a WeWork building downtown in NYC. My impetus for attending was to become more adept at using Javascript with the hope that whatever I learned in a few hours could be utilized for my web design projects. The workspace is set up like a living room; there is plenty of space with comfortable furniture and amenities, all of which contribute to the homey feel of the workspace.

The way that each event works is that anyone is free to show up and work on a project that's related to coding. The tutors that run the event, transverse the room, answering any questions that the attendees might have. The tutors seem to be well-versed in a variety of coding languages, but each tutor has a specific focus. Some specialize in web design, others in app development; some in frontend, others in backend.

I ended up spending the event installing several things onto my laptop, which included Node.js, Angular, and Python. I didn't accomplish anything; it took the full two hours for my laptop to install all of the forementioned libraries, so I spent the entire time speaking with the tutors. If I were a prognosticator, I would have handled the installment at home, so I could have spent the time learning how to run simple commands using Angular and Python.
